Employees of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia officially announced the development of a draft government decree, which provides for the establishment of an experimental legal regime on the M-11 Neva highway (of federal importance) so that the relevant authorities and companies can test unmanned cargo vehicles. It is worth noting that the document of the bill has already been posted on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts of Russia, plus the state company Russian Highways, KAMAZ and others have already agreed to take part in the ambitious project.
We created a new program of the bill with the support of the Ministry of Transport of Russia within the framework of the Digital Transport and Logistics Association, and the adoption of the bill is scheduled for autumn this year. At the moment, the draft pilot program is being studied by employees of the federal executive authorities and the business community – the fact is that the project will be implemented at the expense of the funds and resources of the program initiators, and not with state money. At the same time, the program participants themselves are confident that the experiment will bear fruit.

According to experts, the use of unmanned trucks on public roads will allow companies to significantly reduce their costs – by about 30% in wages until 2025 and about 28% in fuel costs. The program documentation also states that participants in the experiment have the right to operate several types of unmanned trucks – both those in the cab of which there will be a driver (he does not control the vehicle), and those that move without a driver in the cab.
However, for the time being, it will not work out to refuse the participation of a person in cargo transportation – even if the truck moves along the highway without a pilot in the cockpit, a remote dispatcher will still manage it. It will connect to the car in a critical situation or in case of parking, for example.
