Russia denounces drone attack in Krasnodar city

The explosion, which damaged an office building in the city Krasnodar of the south of Russiaeast of Crimea, was caused by two drones, the governor of the region said.

“There is some damage to buildings, but critical infrastructure has not been affected. And, most importantly, there are no casualties,” the governor wrote Benjamin Kondratiev in the messaging app Telegram.

Earlier Russian officials and media reported that the Ukraine hit two areas in southern Russia with a rocket and a drone although the missile was shot down by air defense forces.

In the city of Krasnodar, an explosion destroyed a residential and office building, according to officials.

The sources did not say what caused the blast, although Russian media reported it was a drone strike, according to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.

Unconfirmed videos on social media show a drone flying over the city.

“All emergency services are on site. The cause of the incident is being investigated. Residents are asked to remain calm,” the mayor of Krasnodar wrote on Telegram Yevgeny Naumov.

In neighboring Rostov Oblast, the local governor said a Ukrainian missile was shot down Thursday by air defense forces near Morozovsk, home to a Russian air base.

“In the region of Morozovsk, an anti-aircraft defense system shot down a Ukrainian missile. The army is doing its job. Stay calm,” said Rostov Governor Vassily Golubev.

Earlier, the governor of the Russian region Belgorodon the border with Ukrainewhich was rocked earlier this week by an armed raid, said the area had come under dozens of artillery fire in the past 24 hours.

In Telegram, o Vychislav Gladkov said that the village Kozinkain the Greyvoron sector, where the gunmen entered, was hit by 132 mortar shells and cannons.

Several buildings in the area were damaged, the governor said, adding that there were no casualties.

The area is often hit by fires for which the Moscow blames the Ukrainian military, sometimes murderously, but rarely so consistently.

The governor said the Belgorodsky region, which surrounds the regional capital Belgorod, was hit by 14 shots, mostly from drones, one of which launched a bomb at an administrative building, destroying the roof and shattering the building’s windows.
