Russia changed strategy for Kiev to surrender, says expert

In an interview with CNN this Sunday, Angelo Segrillo, professor of contemporary history at USP and researcher at the Pushkin Institute in Moscow, said that there is a change in the strategy of Russian troops.

Segrillo explains that some cities have already been taken and others are under siege. “The idea is to submit these cities. I think Putin will wait for Kiev to submit. When water or food is lacking, perhaps the central government [da Ucrânia] submit before leaving for the capital, because there will be problems.”

The professor believes that the Russians are trying to force the surrender of Ukrainians in important cities and hoping that this will happen in Kiev.

“Ukrainian resistance was greater than previously thought. They [russos] they believed that by frightening them from several sides, the Ukrainians would surrender and that did not happen. So now they’re going to have to do it for a war part,” he said.

According to the expert Kiev is a very important symbolic milestone. “The origins of Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian civilizations are in Kiev. If there is bombing of Kiev, it will be too strong for the Russians themselves.”
