Russian bombings in Ukrainian region of Kherson killed at least one civilian and wounded two others on Thursday, the head of its military command, Oleksandr Prokudin, said via Telegram.
He spoke of a 72-year-old man who was killed on his balcony by Russian bombings in the homonymous capital of the region and two others injured.
The Russian side reported casualties on the other side of the Dnieper River in the city of Skandavsk; the TASS news agency reported five dead, and the Moscow-appointed governor of Kherson, Vladimir Salda, reported via Telegram that 11 wounded were in hospital.
Mark Krutov of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported via X (formerly Twitter) that a Ukrainian missile strike fired by a US-made HIMARS system killed “senior Russian officers”, citing “both Russian and Ukrainian sources”.
Russia’s military, which invaded Ukrainian territory more than 20 months ago in February 2022, continues to hold about one-fifth of Ukrainian territory. Last year, the Ukrainian army recaptured part of the Kherson region, which Moscow has announced it has annexed.
