Russia accused the Ukrainian military of deliberately attacking a hospital in a Moscow-controlled area of eastern Ukraine on Saturday.
The attack was considered by Russia to be a war crime that killed 14 people and injured 24 patients and medical staff.
There was no immediate response from Ukraine to Russia’s allegations. Reuters was unable to independently verify the information.
The alleged attack hit a hospital in the Russian settlement of Novoaidar and was carried out using a US-supplied HIMARS rocket launch system, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
“A deliberate missile strike against a functioning civilian medical facility is undoubtedly a serious war crime by the Kiev regime,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said.
“All those involved in the planning and execution of this crime will be found and held accountable.”
Civilian and military doctors worked at the hospital for many months, treating local residents and soldiers, the ministry said.
Ukraine and its Western allies frequently accuse Russian forces of war crimes in the conflict in which thousands of civilians have been killed and towns and villages destroyed by artillery and air strikes.
