RS: Police will allow a request for protective measure over the internet

The Rio Grande do Sul Civil Police reported that victims of domestic violence may request urgent protective measures over the internet from next week.

The measure arrives after the murder of six women in less than 24 hours in the state.

According to delegate Silvia Sehn, the measure had been under development since January. “Last week, an institutional alignment meeting was held with all departmental directors and regional delegates on online MPU,” he said.

The request can be made through the RS Women’s Online Police Station. It is expected that the tool will be launched this Thursday (24) or Friday (25).

None of the victims killed on Friday had a protective measure against the suspects.

The corporation has not yet confirmed the official release date, but reported that the announcement should take place in the coming days.
