Rockets hit the Green Zone of Baghdad

Two rockets hit the Green Zone in the early hours of Thursday (29/7) Baghdad, where the American embassy is located, without any casualties or material damage.

As a source from the Iraqi security services announced and the Athenian News Agency broadcasts one of the rockets landed in a parking lot inside the Green Zone, while a second fell into an adjacent empty space.

Many foreign embassies and government buildings are located in Baghdad’s Green Zone, and are often the target of rocket attacks.

This was the first attack on US interests since July 7. It came as Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Qadimi returned from the United States, where he met with US President Joe Biden, who announced the “end of the US military mission in Iraq.” However, the Democratic president did not mention the withdrawal of American troops from the country.
