Rocket fired from Gaza into southern Israel – No injuries or damage

A rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip on Saturday night at a non-residential area in the south Israelwith the military announcing that there were no injuries or damage.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the rocket launch, but Islamic Jihad, one of the Palestinian armed groups in Gaza Strip had threatened Israel with retaliation after the killing of two of its leaders on Thursday in Jenin, in the northern part of the occupied West Bank.

According to reports in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military responded by firing on two Hamas observation posts east of Gaza City shortly after the rocket was fired.

This launch, the first in a month according to the military, is taking place the day after the death of a 22-year-old Palestinian, Amar Hadi Mufleh, by Israeli forces at the entrance to Nablusin the northern West Bank, under questionable circumstances.

The Israeli army responded

Wounds against targets in the Gaza Strip were launched by the Israeli army in retaliation for the rocket launchas reported by the media, including the online edition of the Haaretz newspaper.

The staff reported that the Iron Dome air defense system was not activated after the launch of the rocket, which caused no casualties or damage.

It is not yet clear which organization was responsible for the launch.

On Thursday night, two members of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization were killed in the West Bank. It is an organization particularly active in the coastal enclave of the Gaza Strip, which often launches rockets against Israeli territory.
