O Rock in Rio announced this Thursday (07) the singer Shawn Mendes as the headliner of September 22nd . Furthermore, it also confirmed the presence of the artist Charlie Puth which will perform on the day September 19 .
Another confirmed attraction was the concert by the singer from Salvador Luedji Luna with the participation of the rapper Tássia Reis and the singer Xênia França .
Additionally, Ne-Yo has been confirmed for September 22nd. Until then, the singer had been confirmed for the festival, but the performance date had not been defined.
On his Instagram profile, Shawn Mendes celebrated that he will come to Brazil. “It's been a long time since I've played live and I'm excited to announce that I'll be headlining Rock in Rio on September 22nd,” he wrote.
“I really missed being on stage and seeing you all in person. I've been working on a new album and I can't wait to play these new songs live for you,” he continued.
“See you there”, he concluded, ending the message with “I love you” in Portuguese.
In this edition, Rock in Rio turns 40 years old. The festival was founded by Roberto Medina in 1985.
Rock in Rio will take place on the 13th, 14th, 15th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 22nd of September 2024.
With Shawn Mendes, the number of confirmed headliners at the festival rises to five. In addition to this, the following are also confirmed as the main attractions of their respective days: Travis Scott , imagine Dragons , Ed Sheeran It is Katy Perry . The 15th and 21st of September do not yet have a defined main artist.
