Rock in Rio 2024: find out what you can and cannot take to the festival

The 2024 edition of the Rock in Rio is approaching and the first day of presentations takes place this Friday (13), with the rapper Travis Scott closing the first night of shows on the Palco Mundo stage. In total, the Cidade do Rock will host 7 days of performances, which will take place on September 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22, in Rio de Janeiro.

Other names like Katy Perry, Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran and the bands imagine Dragons and Avenged Sevenfold also stand out in the line-up.

To ensure that the public can enjoy the shows in the greatest possible comfort, the festival allows the entry of some food and objects, as well as backpacks and bags with essential items for enjoying a day at the City of Rock.

It is recommended that comfortable clothing be chosen for the day, such as light outfits and sneakers. In addition, the event also provides a complete list of permitted and prohibited items. Check it out below:

What is allowed to be taken to Rock in Rio 2024?

  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Cap
  • Coat
  • Raincoat
  • Cell phone charger input
  • Semi-professional camera
  • Processed foods (such as cookies and cereal bars)
  • Plastic bottles up to 500ml with lids and empty
  • Cut fruits and sandwiches*

*IMPORTANT: Cut fruits and sandwiches will only be allowed if sealed in transparent, zip-lock packaging. Furthermore, the limit is five units per person, to prevent commercialization. It is worth mentioning that at Rock in Rio, different gastronomic options will also be provided.

What is not allowed to take to Rock in Rio 2024?

  • Glass or metal bottles regardless of capacity
  • Bottles with packaging greater than 500ml
  • Rigid packaging with lids (example: plastic “tupperware” type containers)
  • Thermal cups, made of glass or metal
  • Cans
  • Helmets
  • Firearms or bladed weapons of any kind (knives, brass knuckles, pocket knives, etc.)
  • Toys/replicas that could be misidentified as weapons
  • Tents, benches, chairs, chains, ropes and lanterns
  • Umbrellas
  • Sharp objects
  • Sharp or cutting objects (scissors, box cutters, tweezers, nail clippers, corkscrews)
  • Fireworks, explosive devices, flares and incendiary devices of any kind
  • Glass, plastic or metal objects (perfumes, cosmetics, including deodorants of any kind, toothpaste or toothbrushes)
  • Flammable and/or corrosive substances
  • Sprays
  • Neuromuscular incapacitation machines (tasers)
  • Laser pointers, strobe lights, or other light-emitting devices
  • Beverages (in any type of container), except water
  • Skateboard, bicycle or any type of motorized vehicle, or not
  • Styrofoam, cooler or any type of storage utensil
  • Selfie stick (extender for taking self-portraits)
  • Professional cameras or video cameras, or with detachable lenses
  • Professional objects for capturing images and sound, such as: professional cameras (interchangeable lens), professional filming equipment, drones or other flying objects
  • Items that can be used for ambush marketing
  • Poisonous and/or toxic substances, including illegal drugs
  • Flags or posters containing messages, or symbols with commercial advertisements, or with references to discriminatory, offensive, homophobic, racist or xenophobic causes
  • Drones, also called UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle), RPA (Remotely-Piloted Aircraft), Remotely Piloted Aircraft, and similar equipment
  • Compressed air horns
  • Megaphones, laptops, tablets, power banks larger than a cell phone
  • Paints, dyes and other related products
  • Large bags/suitcases/backpacks (with or without handles)
  • Any item that represents a commercial intent or that may pose a risk to the event’s security
