One of the secrets that boosted Unidos da Viradouro's victory in Wednesday's qualifying (14), which resulted in the Niterói school's third title, was revealed.
The snake that enchanted Sapucaí in the club's front committee was controlled by one of the dancers from the choreographers Priscila Mota and Rodrigo Negri, who won this year's Golden Standard.
On Instagram, Wesley Torquato shared behind-the-scenes images and tests of the snake that ran through Sapucaí in the parade on Monday (12).
“Yes! I'm the Viradouro commission snake! Priscila Mota and Rodrigo Negri, I'm just grateful for everything you gave me, it was something surreal. You are monsters”, wrote Torquato.
The Viradouro front committee received four 10s in the investigation. The couple of choreographers has some of the most important exhibitions in the history of the subject, such as the instant costume changes in the 2010 champion parade of Unidos da Tijuca or the heroes that emerged from the portrait in the 2019 commission of Mangueira.
Controversy surrounding the commission
Unidos da Viradouro became champions of the Rio de Janeiro Carnival 2024 on Wednesday (14), after obtaining the maximum score. However, the Niterói samba school is in the midst of a controversy, which questions its victory.
On Wednesday afternoon, four samba schools — Grande Rio, Imperatriz Leopoldinense, Mocidade and Beija-Flor — sent a request for punishment for Viradouro to the Independent League of Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro (Liesa).
According to them, the school had an irregularity in its front committee during the parade. Despite being allowed to parade with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 members visible in this wing, Viradouro would have exceeded this limit.
The infraction may result in the association being penalized with 0.5 point loss . Before the investigation begins, Jorge Pelingeiro president of Liesa, informed that the League accepted the schools' resources and will analyze the request by this Thursday (15).
