Roberto De Niro turns 80 and Christopher Walken pays him a surprise visit

The party of Robert De Niro’s 80th birthday it was very worldly and full of stars, of various generations. Contemporary Christophen Walken, who is usually reluctant to go public, made an exception for her friend and colleague. Her next project at the cinema remains among the most anticipated of the year, namely the sequel to Dunes, expected in theaters for November. The birthday boy, just became father of the seventh daughter (Gia, born in April from his relationship with his partner Tiffany Chen), presented himself in great shape and in an unusually casual style. Her numerous offspring, however, have a varied age ranging from 51 years down.

The birthday event took place at his restaurant Locanda Verde in TriBeCa (where he founded his film festival as a tribute to the victims of 9/11 and the attack on the Twin Towers), already besieged by paparazzi and fans before the guests arrived.

The very exclusive party counted among the guests the likes of George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorso, Paul McCartney, Alec Baldwin, Uma Thurman (with her father Robert) and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Walken and De Niro, both Oscar winners, have known each other for a long time, as well as having shared the scene with him in many projects.

The birthday boy also publicly received social greetings from his eldest daughter Drena, full of funny emoticons reposted by Debi Mazar: «80 happy birthday to whoever you know – he wrote – and then – Happy birthday Bob! I wish you a happy birthday and an avalanche of congratulations to you and your family».

Coppola instead accompanied the congratulations with an image taken from The Godfather Part II, which earned him a couple of Academy Awards, the first of his career.

Outside the club, fans crowded patiently but also kindness, to send greetings but also to ask for selfies and autographs from the stars present. Walken, for example, stopped to chat with the audience, indulging in the requested shots.

An informal situationin short, which marked a milestone in the life of De Niro who, thanks to the neo-fatherhood, opens a new chapter, the one that began on 17 August.

This Hollywood giant with a turbulent life, who is not in good health, has recently lost his nephew Leandro, the nineteen-year-old son of his eldest daughter.

Despite this blow to the heart, he was firm in going ahead with the celebrations. In short, the wisdom that age gives led him to carpe diem with glasses of champagne in hand.
