Four fugitives from justice were located this Sunday (8), with the help from the Facial Recognition System of the Bahia Public Security Secretariat (SSP) . The arrests took place in Salvador and Simões Filho, in the Metropolitan Region.
In the capital of Bahia, three men were on the run for robbery and theft. In the interior, the man was wanted for failure to pay child support in the city of São Paulo.
Also this weekend, the technology reached the mark of 600 fugitives from justice captured in 2024. The number was reached after a man wanted for robbery passed through one of the monitored points in Salvador, on Saturday night (7).
With the latest arrests, the tool has already helped arrest 607 people and reached the mark of 1,860 prisoners since its implementation in 2019. The technology is present in 81 municipalities in Bahia and is also used in large events, with support from the Elevated Observation Platform (POE).
The SSP secretary, Marcelo Werner, highlights that “Facial Recognition locates people included in the National Arrest Warrant Bank (BNMP) of the National Council of Justice”.
The ranking of fugitives from justice most located by Facial Recognition includes murderers, drug traffickers and criminals responsible for committing robberies.
