RJ: residents report shooting between rival factions in Vila Kennedy; watch videos

Residents of Vila Kennedy, in Bangu, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, report an intense shooting in the region. According to them, the shooting began around 1 am on Tuesday (3), with cars carrying heavily armed men driving through the neighborhood.

According to residents, criminals from the Terceiro Comando Puro (TCP) faction tried to invade the community during the early hours of the morning, but the place is under the control of the Comando Vermelho faction, and there was a confrontation between the two factions.

The Fogo Cruzado Institute, which monitors shootings in Rio de Janeiro, recorded shots fired in the region at around 4 am today.

In a statement, the Rio de Janeiro Military Police said that the force was called to check on an occurrence of gunshots in the region. According to the PM, there was a confrontation between rival criminal groups, but those involved fled before the police arrived. The force was reinforced in Vila Kennedy.
