RJ: police dismantle clandestine internet center used in financial fraud

One clandestine internet system was dismantled by the Civil Police of the community of Árvore Seca, in Lins de Vasconcelos, Rio de Janeiro, this Wednesday (26).

During the operation, two tablets were seized, four notebooks, 17 smartphones and 30 credit card machines as well as various equipment for installing clandestine internet.

According to the Civil Police, the location was used to unlock stolen cell phones, facilitating credit card fraud and unauthorized transfers.

The investigations that led to the dismantling of the scheme were based on data from several robberies that occurred in recent months.

Victims reported that they were forced to unlock their phones under serious threat, allowing criminals to access their bank accounts and make fraudulent purchases with the seized card machines.
