Rio’s Civil Police arrested a woman on Thursday morning (15) who killed and robbed her elderly neighbor, injecting a toxic substance into his blood. She had been on the run since March 2022. The crime, however, took place in December 2021.
The arrest took place in Morro da Caixa D’Água, in São João de Meriti, in the North Zone of Rio.

According to investigations, the suspect, identified as Fernanda Gonçalves de Carvalho, approached the victim after the elderly man became a widower, and began to frequent his apartment in the Cachambi neighborhood, in the North Zone of Rio.
On the day of the crime, she injected a toxic substance into the retired judicial analyst’s bloodstream, killed him and stole his belongings.
After the crime, she disguised herself and placed the stolen objects in the victim’s vehicle, which was in the building’s garage, and drove to the parking lot of a nearby pharmacy.
From there, he took off his disguise and took photographs of the victim’s car. He then fled to the Lagos Region, where he exchanged the victim’s vehicle for another.
In addition to the car, she stole two TVs, two thousand euros, two telephones, a computer and documents. In total, the value of the goods exceeds R$100 thousand.
After the crime, Fernanda started calling the woman she exchanged cars with, threatening her to confirm a false version to the Police.
In a statement, the Homicide Division said that the woman will undergo a custody hearing and will remain at the disposal of the courts. She is charged with the crimes of robbery and coercion during the course of the trial.
