A security team belonging to the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, was shot several times this Wednesday (15), in the municipality of Macaé, in the north of the state. The governor was not in the entourage, as his appointment in the city was later. The details were informed in a note by the Guanabara Palace.
“A team from the Institutional Security Office of the Government of the State of Rio that was making a precursor to the governor’s agenda was shot at by criminals from Favela Nova Holanda, in Macaé, this Wednesday morning. One of the military police officers who are part of the team was hit and is being treated at the Municipal Hospital of Macaé.
Castro is traveling through the interior of the state and his schedule in Macaé was maintained, according to the government. He went to participate in the order to start the duplication of Ponte da Barra and the works for the revitalization of Avenida Rui Barbosa.
The circumstances of the crime are being investigated by the Civil Police.
