“Rio is a state that breathes tourism, a fundamental industry for the development of our economy, which has more than 700 accommodation facilities, 45 thousand rooms and generates more than 100 thousand jobs. The results are encouraging and give us the certainty that we will have a spectacular party, living up to the expectations of locals and tourists”, said the president of HotéisRIO, Alfredo Lopes.

To ensure public safety, the Military Police set up a scheme that employs more than 22,000 military police officers.

In Greater Rio alone, there will be 8,659 police officers working at New Year's Eve, an increase of 18% compared to last year.

In Copacabana, the capital's main New Year's Eve celebration, where a 12-minute fireworks show will take place, led by a symphony orchestra, almost 3,000 police officers will perform on the waterfront, an increase of 11% compared to last New Year's Eve.

“We are ready to welcome tourists from all over Brazil and the world. We prepared a beautiful party, with all the structure and, above all, with security. We have reinforced policing on the streets and we are going to use all our technological equipment so that people feel safe and can celebrate”, said governor Cláudio Castro (PL).

High demand in the interior

The search for a calmer place to welcome 2024 caused reservations in cities in the interior of the state to rise as well. The average occupancy is 91.16%.

Miguel Pereira, in the Center-South of Rio de Janeiro, is the most popular city, with 99.20% of the hotel chain occupied. Next comes Arraial do Cabo (98.70%), in the Lagos Region, and, tied, the municipalities of Cabo Frio, in the same region, and Angra dos Reis and Paraty, on Costa Verde (93.50%).

“Once again we have great hotel occupancy numbers in cities in the interior of the state. This is the result of a lot of work, of our commitment to promoting the 12 tourist regions of Rio de Janeiro”, recalled the Secretary of State for Tourism of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Tutuca.
