Riccardo Calafiori: from his beginnings to his love for Benedetta Boeme, everything we know about the Italian footballer

Mattia Zaccagni and Riccardo Calafiori, they are the new national “heroes”, those who together, in the heart-pounding finale of Italy-Croatia, broke the so-called curse of June 24th, date on which the national team had previously been eliminated from two other tournaments: the 2014 World Cup in Brazil (defeat to Uruguay in the group stage) and then in 2020 in South Africa, against the hosts. Many things still leave something to be desired in this team that does little as a team, but the passage to the round of 16 has rekindled the support, as well as the spotlight on the two protagonists of the evening.

And if we know a little bit about Mattia Zaccagni on the private front – he is married to Chiara Nasti, with whom he had a son, Thiago, and will soon also have a daughter, Dea) the same cannot be said of Calafiori, who on his social media gives less space to his private life and more to his sporting successes. Born in 2002, Roman, he started playing for Roma’s Primavera and today plays for Bologna after an experience at Basel. This is his debut with the senior national team: a real emotion for the twenty-two year old, who was also joined in Germany by his girlfriend, already included by the international press among the wags best of the tournament.

Calafiori’s girlfriend is called Benedetta Boeme and she is a model by profession. She became somewhat famous in the football world after the Bologna’s qualification for the next Champions League: in fact, during an interview on the sidelines, she joined her boyfriend, kissing him live. A video that went viral in a very short time.

And it is from the girl’s Instagram account that most of the photos of the couple with her boyfriend come, from holidays to more private details such as the tattoo they share on a finger: “Koi no yokan”, premonition of love.

«I will be your shoulder all your life. You are my poetry”, she wrote a few months ago, sharing some shots together, while last January, on the occasion of Benedetta’s twenty-seventh birthday, it was he who indulged in romanticism: «It’s absurd, but me too, ditto! +27, my strength », his words. Calafiori will miss the next one due to a double yellow card: the blue’s mind is already in the quarterfinals, Switzerland permitting.
