Reynaldo Gianecchini responds to criticism after dance video: “They love to criticize”

The actor Reynaldo Gianecchini 51, responded to criticism which he received after going viral on social media with a video in which he danced “Vogue” by singer Madonna, as part of the study for the musical show “Priscilla: Queen of the Desert” .

“Those were my first classes,” said the actor in an interview with PodDelas on Tuesday (11). “People love to criticize, but they never know how much sweat and tears their process was,” he added.

According to Gianecchini, he was not making “vogue art”. “It was a collection of various references, from jazz, from classical,” he said.

In “Priscilla”, the actor plays one of the protagonists of the story. For him, the process was not easy, but it required courage.

“I say courage, but I practically panicked in the middle. I was very intimidated to enter this world, where everyone is already so placed, so prepared, and I came very humbly.”

Remember the controversy

The actor published a video dancing to Madonna’s “Vogue” last week. The publication quickly gathered many comments from internet users who criticized it, claiming that the dance style was started by black and trans people.

A CNN the musical’s choreographer, Mariana Barros, explained that the recording was made during a choreographic study.

“I was learning the dance style, to use the references, since ‘Priscilla’ has a lot of this language, and the director would like, perhaps, for me to also have this reference in the dance”, said the professional.

Member of the LGBTQIA+ community

Still on the podcast, the artist opened up about not feeling welcomed within the LGBTQIA+ community. “They criticized me a lot. I’m also one of the ‘little letters’”, he guaranteed.

“The community wants acceptance, wants respect. And there is a part within it that does not welcome or respect, and I felt quite attacked. I debuted with a huge crowd,” he said.
