Nick Dracon, CEO of cryptocurrency research and education platform Revelo Intel, has resigned after funneling personal and corporate funds, including crypto assets, to attackers.

According to Nick Drakon’s tweet on social media X, he was attacked by a group of people who held him at gunpoint and demanded access to his crypto assets. The attackers also threatened to kill his wife and 8-month-old son, so Drakon was forced to hand over his personal funds, Revelo Intel’s working capital, retained earnings, and funds from Revelo Ventures, the company’s investment arm.

Dracon personally owned most of the stolen funds. He said the attackers knew cryptocurrency addresses associated with his business. The former Revelo Intel CEO said he has evidence that Revelo Ventures employees may have been involved in the incident or that someone from them may have provided information to the attackers. However, Dracon did not disclose details to protect his family and not interfere with the ongoing investigation.

Revelo Intel COO Vu Benson will now lead the company. Dracon has given up his stake in the company and promised to give 30% of Revelo’s profits to the affected employees. He apologized to them for the mistakes that could have made him a target. Dracon will continue to assist law enforcement agencies to expedite the return of the stolen funds.

Recently, Hugo Hyungsoo Lee, CEO of South Korean crypto company Haru Invest, was brutally attacked. He was stabbed multiple times during a trial in Seoul over the theft of $826 million in crypto assets from 16,000 users.
