O Uxua Casa Hotel & Spa in Trancoso, on the south coast of Bahia, was elected for the fourth consecutive time the Best Resort in South America according to the ranking Readers’ Choice Awards 2022.
The sophisticated hotel in the Quadrado, in the heart of the village, is still in third position among the best resorts in the world, behind only the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach in the United Arab Emirates, and the leader Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland.
The Brazilian hotel consists of 13 exclusive rustic houses, with options for a cabin, tree house and tribal-inspired spa. The publication highlights the hotel’s spacious areas, tropical gardens and the fact that it fits “perfectly in the post-hippie utopia of Trancoso”.
About eight minutes away from Barra do Rio Trancoso beach, the hotel was opened in 2009 by the Dutch designer Wilbert Das which created a strong bond with the local community and artisans in the region.
Guests also enjoy an aventurine quartz pool (believed to have medicinal properties) and two restaurants: Uxua Quadrado, specializing in traditional Bahian cuisine with organic and contemporary touches, and Uxua Praia, a beachfront restaurant built from boats. fishing boats.
Two other national resorts are among the top 15 in South America: Fasano Boa Vista in the interior of São Paulo, which is in the 5th position, and its younger brother, the Fasano Trancoso which is in 15th place.
The annual list of Reader’s Choice Awards is published by the specialized publication Condé Nast Traveler, which, this year, was based on the votes of 24,000 readers and another 244,000 voters around the world.

The magazine also released this week the Best Hotels in South America. all in all, six of the 20 listed developments are Brazilian .
