In the list of the most renowned houses of japanese cuisine of São Paulo, to get a place in the highly disputed counter of Murakami chef’s house Tsuyoshi Murakami, it’s not an easy task, but from today (1) the chances increase a little bit.
Serving only 12 diners at a time who sit at the long counter and watch the chef in action closely, combining impeccable cuisine with the theatrical performance of the cook, the restaurant that only served at dinner starts also opening at lunch .
The house opened at the end of 2019, on Alameda Lorena, has the Japanese ideogram Mu (which means nothing, empty) as a symbol and is translated into an environment with minimalist decor and where nothing gets in the way of the visitor’s direct contact with the kitchen.
The dish is ready and, in the same minute, it is served. Want to place an order with the chef? He’s right there at the front, ready to listen and answer.

“My word today is simplicity. Less is more,” he says. Tsuyoshi Murakami, which brings in its menus the synthesis of what it has lived and learned over its 54 years. And it is this baggage that he shares with his clients as he tells stories, sings, declaims poetry and, with great sensitivity, responds to the wishes of each one.
“Cooking is a passion to savor calmly, to undress little by little. It’s an affection that you feel on the plate”, said the chef.
The lunch menu includes options such as the Tempura Yasai Don (R$150) which is a selection of vegetable tempura served over gohan (rice) or the Ebi Tamago Don (R$200) shrimp tempura with a perfect egg over gohan.
There is also a selection of sashimi (R$200 with 12 slices); combined with seven sushi and six makimonos of the day (R$ 230); Tirashi with fish and seafood (R$260); and grilled Wagyu with house soy sauce (R$260). It is also possible to order doubles of different sushi.
