Renato Cariani’s company has already been the target of an investigation into environmental damage

Fitness influencer Renato Cariani, owner of the company Anidrol Produtos para Laboratórios, which is at the center of an action by the Federal Police (PF) carried out this Tuesday (12), has already been the target of another investigation, which targeted the same company, accused of environmental damage in 2021.

The case was handled by the Diadema Environmental Police Station, a municipality in Greater São Paulo, where the company is headquartered. At the time, police officers discovered the irregular disposal of contaminated waste and personal protective equipment (PPE) mixed with common waste.

During the inspection work, it was also identified that the waste disposal certificate had expired. Cariani was heard within the scope of the detailed term and said that employees are instructed to dispose of garbage in their respective bins, but due to a mistake they ended up mixing the waste.

The Criminalistics Institute (IC) even prepared a report, which pointed out, in addition to irregular disposal, the inadequate storage of chemical products.

The case was closed at the request of the Public Ministry of São Paulo (MPSP), which understood that there had been irregular disposal, but without the potential to cause environmental damage. In a document from June 2021, the prosecutor responsible for the case highlights that the irregularities should be remedied, but that there was no intention of contamination.

“It is true that any irregularities must be remedied and corrected, however, with regard to the criminal sphere, there is no subjective element of intent, which limits criminal liability in the case at hand”, according to the document.

When contacted to comment on the case, the influencer did not respond. The space remains open.

PF operation

The Federal Police (PF) of São Paulo carried out an operation, this Tuesday morning (12), against a criminal organization that diverted chemicals to manufacture drugs. Among the targets of the action are the influencer Renato Cariani and the company, in Diadema, of which he is a co-owner.

According to investigators involved in Operation Hinsberg, the gang issued fraudulent invoices from companies duly licensed to sell chemical products in São Paulo, such as Anidrol, owned by Cariani.

Payment was made in kind through “oranges”. The criminals pretended to be employees of multinationals.

The PF estimates that around 12 tons of chemical components were diverted, such as phenacetin, acetone, ethyl ether, hydrochloric acid, mannitol and ethyl acetate. With this material, it would be possible to manufacture 19 tons of crack and cocaine ready for consumption.

Shell companies were used to cover up the scheme.

In a note, the PF states that “the people related to the facts investigated will respond, each within their sphere of responsibility, for the crimes of equivalent trafficking, association for trafficking purposes, as well as for the crime of money laundering.”
