Renato Aragão leaves the hospital after suffering a TIA and appreciates the public’s affection

The comedian Renato Aragão left the hospital this Friday (9) after spending more than a day hospitalized in Rio de Janeiro after suffering a transient ischemic attack.

“Hey guys, we’re together. Thanks for the affection. Big kisses to everyone”, said the artist upon arriving home with his wife, Lílian Aragão and being received with a party by his dog.

Renato Aragão, who is 87 years old, was taken to Hospital Samaritano Barra da Tijuca, west of Rio, after “feeling a slight discomfort at home”.

“The actor is under neurological surveillance throughout his stay in the hospital, reporting that he was very well attended and monitored, always with great care and attention from the entire medical team,” says a note sent by the artist’s advisory at the time of hospitalization. , on Wednesday (7).

According to Diogo Haddad, a neurologist and Coordinator of the Memory Center at the Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz, in São Paulo, TIA is a neurological symptom or a focal deficit, that is, a change in nerve function in some part of the body. By definition, according to the specialist doctor, it should disappear within 24 hours.

“It is an ischemic process. For some reason something has stopped proper blood flow to an area of ​​the brain and symptoms appear. These symptoms can be varied. It could be motors, like loss of strength for a while. They can be in the language, such as speech difficulty. But you may have symptoms associated with dizziness, vision changes. It all depends on the area of ​​the brain affected,” explained Haddad.

Even if the symptoms disappear within 24 hours, the neurologist points out that it is very important to seek medical attention and investigate the causes of the TIA, which may indicate a predisposition to a stroke.
