Regarding the 1.19% drop in inflation, 1% is due to gasoline, says economist

The Consumer Price Index – Weekly (IPC-S) dropped 1.19% at the end of July, after deflation of 0.44% in the third quadrissemana and high of 0.67% in June. The information was released this Monday (1st) by Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV).

Paulo Picchetti, economist coordinator of the IPC at FGV’s Ibre, stated, in an interview with CNN which in relation to the drop in inflation, 1% is due to the drop in the price of gasoline.

The average price of fuel in Brazil may return to the level of June 2021 this week. The reason is the new reduction applied by Petrobras in the sale of fuel to distributors of R$ 0.15 per liter.

This is the second announcement in the administration of the new president of the state-owned company, Caio Paes de Andrade, who took office at the end of last month. On the 20th, Petrobras reduced by R$ 0.20 a liter of gasoline for distributors.

The variation at gas stations must be R$ 0.11 per liter, from the proportional account considering the mixture with ethanol.

The calculation is made by Petrobras itself.

In the survey carried out by the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) released last Friday (29), the average value of a liter of fuel was R$ 5.74.

The survey is carried out by a company hired by the ANP, which photographs the price plates and produces reports. More than 5,500 stations are analyzed.

pricing

On Wednesday (27), Petrobras reported that a guideline for pricing in the domestic market was approved that incorporates an “additional layer of supervision” of the execution of fuel pricing policies by the board of directors and fiscal councils.

Despite the supervision by the boards, Petrobras reiterated in a statement the decision made on the price policy by the executive board, and said that the company will continue to seek to make a profit.

“The Guideline reiterates the Executive Board’s competence in the execution of pricing policies, preserving and prioritizing the Company’s economic results, seeking to maximize its generation of value,” the company said in a statement.
