Images taken by a drone show the condition of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Conception, in Recife (PE), after the collapse of the church roof. The accident occurred in the early afternoon of this Friday (20), leaving at least two dead and 24 injured.

In the images, it is possible to see dozens of solar panels on the roof. The installation of the equipment was completed less than a week ago. However, it is not yet possible to confirm whether there is a connection between the installation of the panels and the collapse of the roof. The causes of the accident will only be determined after the expert investigation is completed.

The accident occurred around 2 pm, when a social action was taking place. “The people who were here were there because the church is doing a social action of distributing basic food baskets. These people were here receiving their baskets. These are people who are already vulnerable,” said the vice-governor of Pernambuco, Priscila Krause.
