RBD: Public Ministry of RJ opens inquiry to investigate ticket sales

The 2nd Public Prosecutor’s Office for Collective Protection and Consumer and Taxpayer Defense in Rio de Janeiro launched a civil inquiry on Tuesday (7) to investigate alleged irregularities in the sale of tickets for the Rebelde show, the RBD, which will through Brazil on a reunion tour after 15 years. The show in Rio will be at Engenhão on November 19th.

According to representations to the MPRJ General Ombudsman, systemic errors in the acquisition of virtual tickets caused disorganization and disrespect to the order of the purchase queue at the physical box office, located at Jeunesse Arena, in Barra.

Problems during the sale at the sales place led to riots and fights in the queue.

The procedure for opening the civil inquiry reports that the facts described are subject to investigation and repression through judicial and extrajudicial measures, since they would violate collective rights.

The document highlights that, according to the CDC (Consumer Protection Code), the service is defective when it does not provide the security that the consumer can expect from whoever offers the ticket.

Among the measures determined are the sending of an official letter to the company Eventim Brasil São Paulo Sistemas e Serviços de Ingressos Ltda., responsible for selling the tickets, so that, within 30 days, it can clarify whether the complaints are valid and, if so, the reasons that caused the disorder in the sale of tickets.

In addition, Alerj’s Consumer Protection Commission (Rio de Janeiro Legislative Assembly) and Procon were also given an official order that, within the same period, report on the existence or not of a complaint and/or administrative procedure on the matter.

São Paulo

Last Tuesday (3) the federal deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP) filed a letter with Procon-SP and the Public Ministry of the State of São Paulo asking for an investigation of the events company Eventim. The document calls for investigation into a possible illegal ticket sales scheme for the band’s concerts in Brazil.

The document to Procon mentions the relationship between exchangers and the company responsible for online sales.

In the official letter, the deputy also refers to reports that several physical points of sale were taken over by “exchangers carrying firearms to intimidate fans”.

A CNN is contacting Eventim asking for a position on the matter.

The concert in São Paulo will take place on November 17 at Alianz Parque.

RBD’s last visit to Brazil was on the group’s farewell tour, between April, May and December 2008.
