Santa Catarina has 295 municipalities with incidents due to heavy rains, 14 of which are in a state of public calamity.
The information was confirmed by the Secretary of State for Protection and Civil Defense of Santa Catarina, Colonel Armando.
A CNN Radio he reported that 11 people had died and that the state “has been suffering a lot” with at least seven waves of rain since October 3rd.
“The rains occur in all regions”, he reinforced.
According to the colonel, the precipitation lost intensity this Thursday, and the weekend is expected to have less rain.
However, he said that until there are two weeks without rain, “it will take time to restore normal life.”
The colonel highlighted that the work of cleaning the cities has been complicated, as the terrain is very damaged.

“We are in contact with the Federal Government in search of resources and we continue to be attentive and in contact with the population”, he added.
The most critical area in the state of Santa Catarina is the upper Itajaí river valley, which continues to be monitored by Civil Defense.
