For centuries, the leaders of the Roman Catholic Church are chosen in voting known as Conclaves.
After Pope Francis’ death on April 21, many faithful are curious to know what the process of choosing the new pontiff, which happens in the Vatican is like.
The Conclave, which will be held in early May, will bring together more than 130 cardinals. Until then, the clerics hold masses and meetings.
The election of a new Vatican head of state generates discussions around clerics that are considered as strong candidates. There is even an Italian term to define these cardinals: “papabile” (“papable” in literal translation).
