Queen Elizabeth will be taken to her final residence at St George’s Chapel, which is within the walls of Windsor Castle, next to her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip. After Queen Elizabeth died at her beloved Scottish residence, Balmoral Castle, aged 96 on September 8, her coffin traveled to London for the mourning events.
The official funeral will take place on Monday at Westminster Abbey in London. As the Queen will be taken to her final residence, Mr Prince Philipwho died aged 99 in April 2021, will be moved from the vault to St George’s Chapel, where he was temporarily laid to rest, and placed next to his wife, according to The Telegraph.
The couple celebrated 73 years of marriage a few months before Philip’s death.
Her parents, King George VI, who died in 1952, and her mother, who died in 2002, and her sister Princess Margaret, who also died in 2022, are also laid to rest in a space that is part of chapel.
