Russian President Vladimir Putin said the country is ready to help end Israel’s war peacefully through diplomatic means. The speech was made at a meeting with leaders from Israel, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Iran and Egypt this Monday (16), the Kremlin said.
Among the leaders was Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The fundamental readiness to continue carrying out purposeful work in the interests of ending the Palestinian-Israeli confrontation and achieving a peaceful solution through political and diplomatic means was confirmed,” says the Kremlin text.
During the conversation, Putin attributed the current escalation of the war in the Middle East to “long-term stagnation” in resolving the conflict.
The Russian president also emphasized “the seriousness of the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the need to lift the blockade in the region for the immediate delivery of medicines, food and other vital aid.”
