Russia’s energy sector is one of the targets of sanctions from Western countries over the war in Ukraine. Even so, the country is meeting its energy supply obligations, President Vladimir Putin told a government meeting on Thursday.
Putin said Western sanctions against Russia are not legitimate and that governments are deceiving their own people. He also stressed that the country would resolve its problems calmly.
“We have already talked about the energy sector and the problems they are trying to create for us in the financial area, linked to the financing of certain businesses, in logistics, in the area of insurance – they are already affecting the prices of energy sources in many markets. ,” Putin said.
“We have the resources we can and are ready to provide to our foreign partners. Let me repeat: if they create any kind of problem for us, the negative consequences for this area of the economy are inevitable. They are inevitable. Prices will go up even more,” added the Russian president.
Speaking at the same meeting, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov reported that Russia had taken steps to limit capital outflows and that the country would pay off its foreign debts in rubles.
US House approves blockade of Russian oil
On Tuesday (8), US President Joe Biden announced a ban on imports of oil, natural gas and coal into the US. The move is yet another attempt to impact the Russian economy due to the war in Ukraine.

The project was approved, then, on Thursday (10), by a large majority. The score was 414 votes in favor and 17 against.
