Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the sending of several planes to Iran to help deal with the consequences of the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas, the Russian Emergency Ministry said on Sunday (27).
Putin expressed condolences for the loss of lives and offered to help the country deal with the consequences of the explosion, the Russian government said.
Kremlin said the president transmitted “words of sincere solidarity and support to the families of the victims, as well as votes for recovery for all injured.”
The Emergency Ministry reported that an amphibious aircraft Beriev Be-200, which specializes in firefighting, as well as an Ilyushin IL-76 military transport aircraft, would be sent to Iran to assist in combat.
Iranian state media reported that a large explosion, probably caused by chemical materials, killed at least 28 people and injured more than 800 on Saturday (26) in Bandar Abbas, the largest port in Iran.
