Putin in Mongolia despite the arrest warrant against him by the International Criminal Court

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with his Mongolian counterpart Ukhnagin Khuralshukh today, Tuesday 3/9, during a brilliant ceremony organized in the central square of Ulaanbaatar, according to images broadcast by official Russian media. Vladimir Putin is in neighboring Mongolia on an official visit, his first to a member of the International Criminal Court since the latter issued his latest arrest warrant. The Russian leader, who arrived yesterday, Monday 2/9 in the evening in the capital Ulaanbaatar, was greeted by an honor guard at the airport and was not arrested when he got off the plane, the AFP points out, which also notes that this visit it represents an act of open defiance on Putin’s part against the International Criminal Court, war-torn Ukraine, a number of Western countries, and human rights organizations that have called for his arrest.
