Russian President Vladimir Putin met on Wednesday (16) at Kremlin with three hostages released by Hamas do captivity in Gaza.
“I believe we need to express words of gratitude to Hamas’s political leadership for meeting us halfway and performing this humanitarian act,” Putin said during the meeting.
Alexander Trufanov, his mother, Elena Trufanova, and her bride, Sapir Cohen, were kidnapped at Kibbutz Nir Oz, on the Gaza border during a Hamas combat attack on October 7, 2023.
In November 2023, women were released from captivity as part of the first ceasefire agreement and the exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners. Trufanov was released in February 2025.
