Putin-Erdogan meeting on July 19

Meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi will be in Tehran next Tuesday, July 19, by Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the issue of Syria, according to the Kremlin announcement.

It will be only Putin’s second trip abroad since Moscow sent troops into Ukraine on February 24, following a trip to Central Asia in late June.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the three leaders would hold a tripartite meeting.

The Kremlin announced yesterday that Vladimir Putin and Erdogan will soon hold live talks after a phone call in which they discussed efforts to facilitate Ukraine’s grain exports. During today’s briefing, Peskov made no mention of a bilateral meeting between Putin and Raisi in Tehran.
