The São Paulo Public Prosecution Service (MPSP), through the 1st Public Finance Court of the Campinas Forum, asked the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) studies and more details about the criteria and decisions that led to the approval of the quota to transvestites and not binary earlier this month.
The demonstration of this Thursday (12) takes place in response to the popular action of Councilman Rubens Alberto Gatti Nunes (União Brasil), who requested the immediate suspension of quota system and the prohibition of its implementation.
The politician argues that the approval of affirmative policy happens “without the least legal protection” and makes it difficult “the broad access of people common to a vacancy in higher education.” The councilman also believes that the measure was made based on “a sensational and invented ‘structural transphobia’ that would force in the country.”
Rubens argues that the policy violates the guarantee of equality of the Federal Constitution and promotes discrimination among the entries.
Faced with the injunction, the folder stated that the creation of quota system – either directly through normative acts or supported by the principle of university autonomy – must be based on previous studies, to ensure that the adopted policy is appropriate to the groups they intend to achieve.
“And, in this tune, I understand the prior hearing of the opposing party on the establishment of the new quota system, specifying the elected selection criteria and the nomination of the existence, or not, of other means of vacancy offerings, for the group reached, within the university,” said Promoter Fernanda Klinguelfus Lorena de Mello.
The MP gave a 10 -day period for Unicamp to respond to the demonstration. Questioned by CNN the university did not return the contact.
