The PSDB made official its intention to nominate the former mayor of Rio Cesar Maia as deputy on the ticket of Marcelo Freixo (PSB) for the Rio de Janeiro government dispute. The nomination faces resistance from Cidadania, which wants to support the PDT candidate in the state, the former mayor of Niterói Rodrigo Neves.
If the parties, which form a party federation, do not reach an agreement by Monday (18), the decision will be taken at the national level – where the toucans are the majority, as shown on Friday by the CNN 360 .
The PDT tries to bring the support of the PSDB from Rio de Janeiro, which is led by the former president of the Chamber of Deputies, Rodrigo Maia. On Friday, he met with Carlos Lupi, national president of the PDT, and with Rodrigo Neves. On the agenda, the PDT offer for the toucans to occupy the Senate seat on the ticket.
The PSDB wants to support Freixo, in a negotiation led by the federal deputy and Rodrigo Maia. The idea is that Cesar Maia is important for the PSB pre-candidate, associated with the left, to be able to seek votes from the center.
State President of Citizenship, Comte Bittencourt told the CNN that the party wants to be with the PDT. “Citizenship continues to defend that the federation is with Rodrigo Neves. The PSDB wants Freixo, but that’s not a split, it’s the same political field. We’re still talking. If we don’t have a unit in Rio de Janeiro, it’s up to the national leadership to decide,” he declared.
