Protesters go to the streets in Serbia to protest against current government

On Wednesday (16), hundreds of protesters against the Government of Serbia filled the square in the city of Kraljevo, requiring those responsible for collapsing the ceiling of a train station in Novo Sad, which took place in November 2024, to be taken to court.

At the time, former prime minister, Milos Vucevic, said the responsible would be punished. However, this has not happened to this day, generating dissatisfaction in the population.

The protest was organized and led by local students, who were plaguing whistles and held signatures.

The acts have been taking place since the early 2025, where several Serbian citizens protested the country’s government, led by Aleksandar Vučić.

Daily rallies spread throughout Serbia and became the biggest challenge in the 12th anniversary of the current president, with protesters denouncing widespread corruption and the incompetence they led to disaster.

Milica Miletic, one of the protesters who attended the protest in Kraljevo, said he is happy with the impact that the movements have caused:

“I am very happy that they have started something so great and that they have made aware of the situation in the country and, in general, given to the people of Serbia Great confidence to wake up and finally go to the streets,” he said.

Currently, the Serbia Parliament approved Professor Djuro Macut as the new Prime Minister after his predecessor resigns to office.
