The project “A Sign in Space” (A sign in space, in English), Conceived by media artist Daniela de Paulis in collaboration with the SETI Institute, the European Space Agency, the Green Bank Observatory and the Italian National Institute of Astrophysics (INAF), it will simulate the sending of extraterrestrial messages to Earth this Wednesday (24).
ExoMars, an unmanned European Space Agency mission to Mars, will transmit a coded message developed by De Paulis and his team, which will be received by four radio astronomy observatories: the SETI Institute’s Allen Telescope Array; the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope at the Green Bank Observatory; O Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array, operated by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory of the National Science Foundation; and the observatory of the Medical Radio Astronomical Station, managed by the National Institute of Astrophysics of Italy.

The content of the encoded message that will be sent has not been disclosed, which allows the public to follow along and try to interpret the content as well.
The message will be transmitted this Wednesday, at 16h in Brasilia time. It is possible to follow the event in this link.
