The Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized this Saturday (28) a trailer with 25 tons of marijuana, as well as 90 kilos of skunk and 2 kilos of hashish. The vehicle was intercepted in Santa Catarina. It is the largest drug seizure ever carried out by the corporation in the state.
The drug was hidden under a load of corn grains. At the time of the approach, the 44-year-old driver told the police that he had left Caarapó (MS), bound for Criciúma (SC).
After minutes of conversation, however, the man presented confusing explanations and conflicting versions about the trip.
Given the suspicions, the agents decided to inspect the trailer. They found hundreds of packages of marijuana, carefully wrapped in waterproof material. The driver, who already has a police record for embezzlement, was arrested red-handed.
The Civil Police are now investigating a possible connection with drug traffickers in the Center-West of Brazil and also in Paraguay, given their proximity to the border.
