Preta Gil undergoes procedure to prepare for cancer surgery

In treatment for bowel cancer, singer Preta Gil continues to issue warnings and recommendations on her Instagram account about the importance of taking preventive tests against the disease.

Admitted to the Hospital Sírio-Libanês, in São Paulo, for a preoperative routine, which includes a complete colonoscopy, the artist spoke about the exam that can prevent and diagnose the pathology.

“Colonoscopy is an exam that visualizes the large intestine until it reaches the small intestine. It is recommended in case of symptoms such as bleeding in the stool, diarrhea, trapped intestines and abdominal pain. For the population without symptoms, the ideal is to take the exam from the age of 45 and repeat it every 10 years”, explained the singer.

According to the artist, the surgery is scheduled to take place on August 16. “The preoperative exams began. We’re here. Everything will be fine. I will operate only on Wednesday (16). Tomorrow and Tuesday, we will do pre-op tests,” she said.

Preta was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in January of this year. In March, she suffered sepsis caused by an infection in her chemotherapy catheter. At the time, the famous faced four hours of loss of consciousness, resuscitation and 20 days in the ICU.

The discovery of bowel cancer was announced by Preta only in January. Since then, she has warned about the importance of early diagnosis and the search for adequate treatment.

Last month, Preta Gil said she would be absent from social media to focus on her treatment. “I wanted to start this text by saying that I’m sick and I don’t mean cancer. I am emotionally ill,” she wrote.
