Possibility of landslides puts the Civil Defense of SP on notice

The entire coast of São Paulo is in a state of alert because of the forecast of rains for this Easter holiday, and, although the meteorology does not indicate the possibility of a volume of rains like the one that caused the February tragedy in São Sebastião, on the North Coast, the chance of landslides exists.

“As we are coming from a summer in which in most regions of the state it rained above average, our concern is that the soil is already quite soggy”, he told the CNN Radio the deputy director of the Emergency Management Center of the Civil Defense of the State of São Paulo, Lieutenant Matheus Roncatto.

The possibility of storms extended the Civil Defense Operation Summer Rains for another 15 days, which usually ends in March.

“There is rain in the eastern part of São Paulo, which tightens and promises strength from this Friday afternoon and continues until Monday”, informed Climatempo meteorologist Maria Clara Sassaki.

State Civil Defense teams are on alert for areas at risk and recommend that residents leave their homes immediately when they come across signs that precede landslides. Cracks in walls and walls, as well as inclination of poles and trees, are indicators of earth movement.

In these cases, the Municipal Civil Defense must be called by calling 199.
