Portuguese woman is convicted of racism against the children of Gio Ewbank and Bruno Gagliasso

THE Justice of Portugal condemned Adélia Barros 59, for committing an act of racism against Titi, 11, and Bless, 9, children of the couple Giovanna Ewbank, 38, and Bruno Gagliasso, 42, during a family trip to Costa da Caparica, in July 2022.

The Almada court ordered her to serve a sentence of eight months in prison, which she can serve in freedom, on the condition that she does not commit another crime during the next four years. In addition, she was ordered to pay compensation of 14 thousand euros (approximately R$85 thousand) and to undergo treatment for alcoholism.

She must also pay 2,500 euros (around R$15,000) to the SOS Racismo association and undergo treatment for alcoholism.

The crime took place in 2022, at the Clássico Beach Club restaurant, in Costa da Caparica, Portugal, where the family spent their holidays.

A white woman, who was passing in front of the restaurant, cursed the children and offended a family of Angolan tourists who were there – around 15 people.

Videos posted online show the actress reacting to the woman: “Go to jail, racist.” After the incident, Gagliasso called the police. The woman was taken from the scene escorted by agents.

At the time, Bruno Gagliasso and Giovanna Ewbank filed a complaint against Adélia at a Portuguese police station, which led to the beginning of legal proceedings.

Furthermore, in August, Brazilian influencer Dayane Alcântara was sentenced by the Federal Court of Rio de Janeiro to 8 years and 9 months in prison for racism against Titi, who, at the time of the incident, was just 4 years old. Dayane’s case happened in 2017 and also generated great repercussions.
