Portugal: No deaths from coronavirus for the first time since August 2020

A very promising announcement was made today by its authorities Portugal. In particular, he announced that in the last 24 hours, zero deaths related to coronavirus, for the first time in almost 9 months, as the country emerges from a two-month lockdown, as it became known by the country’s Health Authority.

The Iberian country has a total of 16,965 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and 834,638 cases, an additional 196 compared to the day before. The last time Portugal announced zero Covid-19-related deaths was on August 3 last year.

According to the APE-MPE, the Portuguese Health Authority pointed out that it remains in the “green zone” in the risk table, with the risk of transmission below 1 and the national incidence rate at 70.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

About 20% of its 10,000,000 inhabitants are currently vaccinated with a single dose of Covid-19 vaccine and 7% with two doses, while more than 90% of people aged 80 and over, the group with most deaths, has been vaccinated with at least one dose.
