Today, November 17, during an event in Los Angeles, Porsche employees officially presented the world with an off-road version of the 911 sports car – the novelty was called Dakar. The creators of the car believe that this limited edition (2,500 cars will be produced in total, although this is an impressive batch for sports cars) of the vehicle will appeal to car enthusiasts who want to move off the asphalt into less passable terrain, but do not want to lose the feeling of comfort and premium. Accordingly, the price of the car is quite impressive – $ 223,450.
It should be noted right away that this price is indicated for the basic version – yes, Porsche even has sports cars in the “base”. For this money, a potential buyer will receive a fairly traditional body design, while owners of a Porsche 911 Dakar with a special Rallye Design Package receive a vehicle in the colors of the rally car, which once won the Paris-Dakar in 1984. They also decided to modify the car with a special platform on the roof, on which you can transport various things and consumables (probably, you can set up a tent there), plus there is a new LED optics, a protective mesh on the air intakes and mounts for a tugboat.

The interior of the car clearly indicates that although the Porsche 911 Dakar is an expensive and premium car, it is still a vehicle for extreme sports and trips where SUVs are usually driven. For example, the rear sofa was completely removed from the cabin, so you can forget about traveling with the comfort of four, plus the seats are represented by fairly light (and not very soft) buckets in the style of racing cars. All this is necessary to reduce the weight of the car – for this, the 911 Dakar even received a lightweight windshield and a special lightweight battery. But the most interesting, of course, is under the hood of the vehicle.

Of course, the 911 Dakar is a pretty powerful car. Under the hood of the off-road version of the sports car is a three-liter V6 engine with two turbines, so that in the end the potential buyer gets 480 horsepower at 570 Nm of torque. Such a powerful engine works in a bet with an eight-speed robot and on a fully controlled chassis with adjustable suspension – you can increase the vehicle’s ground clearance up to 190 mm. As a result, the car accelerates from standstill to hundreds in just 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km/h. For driving on snow, mud, loose soil, sand and other not the hardest surfaces, the car is ideal.
