Pope Francis’ profile on Instagram has published an update with the Latin phrase “Apostolic Sedes Vacans” which means “apostolic thirst is vague” or “the throne is empty” after confirming the death of the 88-year-old pontiff on Monday (21).
The publication highlights a link that leads to a page on the Vatican website that shows the official statement about the death of Francisco.

Vacant headquarters is the period when the Apostolic See, the headquarters of the Church of Rome, is administered by Camerlengo, a cardinal who performs a function similar to that of the Pope’s assistant.
During the vagar headquarters, the Camerlengo is responsible for managing church property and becomes interimly the Vatican’s property administrator.
Among them the Apostolic Palace, the Pontiff’s official residence, the Lateran Palace, former papal residence, and the apostolic palace of Castel Gandolfo, the Pope’s summer house.
This last place is much explored in the movie “Two Popes”, by Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles.
In social network X, the name of the Pontiff’s official account was changed to “Apostolic Headquarters is vague.”

The latest account publication talks about the Easter celebration.
“Christ rose! These words capture all the meaning of our existence, for we were not made for death, but to life. #Easter”.

Francisco died after an irreversible stroke and heart failure, the Holy See said.
Pontiff confirmed in his final will that he wanted to be buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maior, in Rome, and not in the Basilica of St. Peter, in the Vatican, unlike previous pontiffs.
The text specified that Francis wanted to be buried “on the floor, without special decoration”, but with the inscription of his papal name in Latin: Franciscus.
