Pope Francis had a private meeting at the Vatican on Sunday morning (20) with US Vice President Jd Vance, the Vatican said in a statement.
Vance, a Catholic who conflicted with the Pontiff on Trump government immigration policies, met Francisco at his Vatican residence to exchange Easter greetings, the statement said.
On Saturday (19), the US Vice President met with high Catholic Church employees for conversations. The Vatican said that during the meeting there was a “exchange of opinions” about migrants, refugees and prisoners.
The American was in Rome with his family during Easter weekend and attended a Holy Friday service in St. Peter’s Basilica.
