The Conclave is expected to attend 135 cardinals – electors, while in the current Apostolic Constitution, Article 33 of “Romano Pontifici Eligendo” clearly writes: “The maximum number of cardinals does not exceed 120”. However, “no cardinal electorate can be excluded from the election, energetic and passive, of the Supreme Pontifical, because of the pretext of any abomination, suspension, prohibition or other ecclesiastical obstacle” there is a problem.
